I took a break this week with a trip to Europe and Paris. I am flying back to Florida tonight.
It was a all-week in a busy month dedicated to photography. Paris Photo Art fair, sister fair of FIAC by Reed Organisation, and Photo Saint Germain des Près were my main Parisian cultural activities. Some frenzyness around camera art in the air.
Vintage pictures coupled with young quality artists make wonderful shows.
Paris Photo at Grand Palais was showing a nice quality and a good perspective of the varieties and the richness of the Eighth Art. It provides me each time with good vibes on artistic creation and estheticism.
Photo Saint Germain is located in Saint-Germain-des-Près district with its art galleries focusing on photos through the topic "Voyages et Rêves" (Traveling and Dreams). Most of these galleries are as well together during "Art Saint Germain des Pres" at the end of May. It is of course a nice part of Paris to go and enjoy life too.
At Galerie Alfa, the opportunity of seeing William Wegman is always a great thing not to miss. Especially, when the dog is traveling "high in imagination".
Galerie Lélia Mordoch shows the nice and strong landscapes of Gérard Tordjman. Iceland, Peru, Bhoutan, USA, Argentina and more countries. It gave me a nice reminder of my travels and what I should go and see next. But Tordjman's works are bringing dreams and poetry to places I would even know and that I re-discover.
At Galerie Aittouares, a fantastic show is on display with a vision of the Soviet and American dreams though the eyes of Khaldeï and Craven. These pictures of ways of life with patriotism, propaganda, excesses are portraying very well societies with change and desire to live after WWII.
More exhibitions are there and simply astonishing.
Beyond photography, I had time as well focusing on foreigner visitors to Art Basel Miami in order to give them hints on the city and the Fair.
The Art Basel week will be quite busy. So, I have to get ready.

Life is passion. Mine is now art and culture. It has been being a medical career before. But, travelling for its passion makes it even better.

I am quite busy these days with organising a party for the election results on Tuesday. But, this would be only for the friends, who can prove that they voted.
Anyway, it would be Champagne or .... Champagne because we live in a Democracy, where we can vote and express our opinions. But, I think I might serve by the way Champagne Rose millesime or only "normal" Champagne depending on the winner. Even if the winner takes it all!
Before my return to Miami, I had the time in Paris after the FIAC to visit a great exhibition at "Le Bal". After paying a visit to a friend close to Place Clichy, I have seen by serenedipity in a small street a show of Paul Graham. This was not for me the place to expect such a nice experience. Ignorance and prejudice are my worst ennemies.
"Beyond Caring" and "The present" are real testimonies on our society though his revealing camera. Social help and everyday life in England and NYC are here entering our inner world as our eyes are hypnotised and captivated by this reality not so far from us. The thing is we want sometimes not to see what is around us.
The space in itself and the exhibition rooms of "Le Bal" are really appealing to the viewers and soon-to-be admirers. The bar there offers really good drinks and food aswell This cultural center opened 2 years ago for presenting contemporary art. It is linked with the "Cinema des Cineastes" for showing arty films.
Their partners are from the City Hall, Ministry of Culture and Education and private foundations. It is a project led by the Association of Friends of Magnum.
I will do my best to come and visit the next show there with Antoine d'Agata "Anticorps" from January 2013, 19th.
From next week, I would prepare myself for Art Basel Miami. Between my collecting need and the opportunity to meet the world, few weeks would be a bit tight to meet the schedule challenge.
I will tell you more quite soon.
